Tributes are chains?
Was dueling the other day and I used Dupe Frog as a tribute to normal summon another monster. I went to use Dupe Frog's effect which happens when its sent to the grave. My opponent said I couldnt because Dupe misses timing because the last thing in the chain was the monster being summoned. Do tribute summons even start a chain? Thanks for any help.

Re: Tributes are chains?
It has nothing to do with Chains.
Dupe Frog says: When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, you can add 1 "Frog" monster except "Dupe Frog" or "Frog the Jam" from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.
Because of the "When ..., you can ..." we know Dupe Frog can miss timing in certain conditions.
This effect also learns us that the last thing that needs to happen is Dupe Frog being send to the Graveyard for this effect to activate.
When you use Dupe Frog as a Tribute, the last thing happening is the Tribute Summon. Therefor Dupe Frog can't activate anymore because the moment where he would activate has gone by.
This is what's called "missing timing".
So to make a conclusion: Yes, Dupe Frog misses timing when used as a Tribute fodder"

Eclipse Wyvern has a mandatory effect which even includes the wording "If". It can't miss timing whatsoever.
